Table of Contents: The Software I regard as developed by my business!
Just finished the 2003 Club Champs, Jenny Bell is ladies champ and Ashley Boyd is men's champ. It was a well supported competition, congrats to the committee. I had a couple of good battles, and one I would rather forget. Same old piss me off - let let let let let let let let let let let let... let them have it and get out of there! Who can enjoy that game? I have just about had it with competition squash, people are interpreting the "let" rule wrongly in my opinion and killing a great game. If you can't hit the ball without hitting the opponent with your normal racquet swing it should be a let, a stroke if they made no effort to clear the ball. If you can hit the ball without hitting the opponent then it should be "no let" if you cant get to the ball then it should be "no let." I keep running up against dick heads who abuse the rule to the point I can't be bothered or am too tired to bother. If they can't hit the ball they can't get to it - how hard is that - "NO LET" Taumaranui Squash Club men's spoilt the season for us along with Jacquie Benny, the eliminations coordinator and our local committee. Our local idiot didn't put the correct team into the C Grade District Eliminations, this was corrected 2-3 weeks before the event. We were advised it would be acceptable to put in the proper team, providing no other club protests. None of the local teams did, except for Taumaranui Squash Club in the last week. Instead of our committee and the district coordinator sorting it, we had to play the wrong team. The whole spirit of the competition was abused and as far as I'm concerned Taumaranui Squash Club can go suck eggs. It is not the Americas Cup and even those rules aren't set in stone; they should have been told to pull their heads in. We had a young fella who had come up in the grades this year and I believe the district and national eliminations are designed for these players to be tested in. For some spiteful old goats to be able to hobble a team who can put forward one of these players is a disgrace. I for one am not going to be interested in supporting competition with that club in the future, e.g. Interclub Hey I voted for Leilani at the Holden site, supporting our Commonwealth Games team.
I reckon a good game format would be one game played to 27.
Our division 5 men's interclub team is doing pretty well - into the finals. Which is why I haven't been able to keep up with my running schedule, whoopee/boohoo. I think we should use the new game format in our elimination preparation. - Well we won the finals - cool another Pennant for the Club Final Team: Kane Taylor won 3/0 Dave Shuker won 3/1 Andrew Moller won 3/1 Dennis McKewen lost 2/3 Bart Horgan lost 2/3 Reserve: Barry Fordham NEWS: Monday, April 30, 2007 We have a group entered into the Leamington B Grade, more the merrier, they supported our Open. Leamington has long been a traditional rival of Cambridge - "Other side of the River." This didn't go so well for me, and I've decided Leamington club courts are not friendly for my disposition. I don't need it and they don't need me, so they can keep their low ceilings for another 20-30 years, whatever, without me. Matamata is the same, Christ you serve a ball and it goes through the ceiling beams. I had a 3 game match (lost) hitting the ceiling 3 times - come on. That takes away 80% of the pressure the players can use in the game. Or like me use to get out of trouble. Cambridge Open 2002 was scheduled this year for week 26-28 April. Always a good event, leading up to the Waikato Open. Usually a sponsored tournament from Strung Up - Black Knight series, but not this year. See you all there any-way. Done Deed: Men's Winner: Daniel Murphy, WKHAD5M - 3410 Ladies Winner: Angie Toal, WKHAAT - 3535 - Successful defender, cool lady Both top seeds so a good result. Generally a good tournament, not so good for me winning wise. I lost in the Plate of my division, happy with the outcome and pleased to get through a 16 draw OK. Not very well supported by our local members, but some were there doing their bit otherwise. Don't now what the big issue is about protecting points by not competing. One weekend in a year, isn't to hard to organise - I'll be there! Brod (theoldgit) Ford was there and a fine example he was - winning his division. Personally I hate it when they make you the top seed. Good on ya Brod. Here's a plug for your business, scanned from the "Yellow Pages." Cambridge B 2002 is scheduled this year for week 21-23 June. See you all there, I'll see if I can score a digital camera to get some pics up here. Forgot to get the pics - to busy having a good time getting my arse kicked. Although I had a couple of wins, no good in the final. Hamilton Men's player won the top division Kevin Garvey, WKHAKPG. Cambridge Lady won the ladies top division Dianne Moss, well done. Good to see lots of new faces in our local competition, top quality stuff. District Eliminations 2002 are scheduled for week 26-28 July. See you all there. Club Champs 2002 are scheduled for week 30-1 August. See you all there. Coming Event: Party on 26 May 2001 and the Cambridge C Grade on the 22 June. Cambridge Open was a blast, a good number and excellent quality. I lost again all my games but had fun anyway, second game I won by default, so doesn't count. Lesson for us all there to warm up and stretch before the game. Mens - Winner John Bentley, Unknown Mohawk Club, I'll find out! Ladies - Winner Angie Toal, Hamilton Excellent game developing now the higher graded players aren't abusing the interference rules trying to milk strokes in every rally. Setting a good example for us lower fellows to follow. The whole key is in movement to avoid as much interference as possible when regaining and moving from the 'T'. Many of the lower grades believe they should just cut straight back to the middle, whereas the higher grades both move in a slight arc - one behind and one in front. Also not so many people trying to milk strokes now when the ball is about 12 feet in the air or the opponent has moved beyond the (ball - front wall) triangle when the player would have hit the ball. Coming Event: Cambridge Open is 26 April Cambridge B Grade was won by 2 ladies, sign of the times: Mens - Winner Jenny Bell, Leamington Ladies - Winner Diane Moss, Cambridge I got blitzed in all my games, gonna do better in the Open! An old friends daughter is an up and coming star - Well done Joelle
I have developed a program to compute your own reports on your games. It records any number of players - so a family or club could utilise it. Send me a cheque for $250 bucks your address and the Office Suite you use e.g. Office 2000 or Office 97 to: Andrew Moller - email
Note: You only need to input your own points once - from then on the application automatically updates your new points.
The First Report is A Preview of All the games recorded
The Second Report is a Preview of games after a specified date, you can print both reports.
I have developed a program to produce an Interclub Draw It uses VBA as an interface with a spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel Office 2000) So the user doesn't have to initially work on the sheet. Of course Interclub draws being as they are, after the Processing has been done (Click a Button) you can manually make adjustments. The idea is most of the Draw is completed, the interface is below. You can Click on a button and it opens a Word document that the Captain can email for team-mates to print-out. Send me a cheque for $150 bucks and your address for the program and Word file, or $30 bucks with the team info and I'll "Process" it and email you the Word document.
It Processes automatically 7 players in the team, playing 7 opponents. But I've used it for all sorts of Draws, i.e. Summer, Spring and Winter. Click here to send the information electronically LINKS: I'll update these with new ones as noticed http://www.nzsquash.co.nz/ - Get any Grading List etc http://www4.wave.co.nz/~squash/ - Local information http://207.136.67.23/squashlink/art3.htm - Useful Articles (maybe) |
