I have set myself a new Goal: Today (5th May 2001) I decided I am going to run another Marathon, one-day. I have done 5 already so you would probably wonder why. Simple answer is probably because I'm mad -- yet neither a Dog or an Englishman. Even if I don't complete it, I'll leave this page connected, for the links and schedules for anyone else. My best time is 3:44:22 sec so I don't expect to beat that, that was in 1985 and I don't intend to meet this new goal with any intent other than to complete it. Accepting any little bonus life offers along the way.
So I've done 5 already, why another? - why not! Live hard, die young and have a good looking corpse every-time. Work hard and play hard: and any other cliché that gets you through the night. My first site to check out was via yahoo. http://www.realrunner.com/newzealand/intropage.htm I went here because I vaguely remembered "realrunner" when I was training last time. Obviously I am going to be more prepared this time. The first thing I want to find is one close to a big day. If there is anyone else interested in participating contact me moller@i4free.co.nz I will put your name and brief details in the table below:
Potential Event: BMW Auckland, Seoul International or New York Road Runners
Sponsors: It would be a cool idea if some people/companies stepped up and sponsored me or a group to run in one of these. It wouldn't be cheap and it could produce a lot of publicity.
Training Process: 666 - 6 Months, 6 Miles per day, 6 days a week: not freaking likely A 21-week Marathon Training Program
Detailed actual schedule: 2002 Time, speed and Distance calculations Training suggestions: Runners find that substituting activities such as cycling or swimming for some of their workouts will diffuse the physical stress of running, thereby reducing the risk of injury. Rowing Machines, considered the best by many of the links I have found on the net. Strength Training - squats etc... improving economy and energy wastage. Treadmills are very similar to running outdoors and provide significantly lower impact on the joints than road running. Here is an excellent link to winter, or alternative training than road running. Inline Skating sounds like an interesting alternative, one I hadn't considered until surfing the net. Swimming, don't know yet the equality of this and running - the heart rate is the main factor to consider for aerobic and anaerobic exercise. The treadmill link above gets into a comparison. I am going to look into this further - same for cycling! Cycling Running in the water is another new one on me - this style of it anyway.
